Fast & Purrious

Cars for Kitten Space Agency. KSA has no wheels, so these bring their own: springs, tyres, an engine and a gearbox, all simulated by the mod and driven with the keys you already fly with.

The cars

Beach Buggy: a fibreglass dune buggy on long-travel coil-overs, with a Beetle engine behind the seats and two kittens up front.

Cadillac Eldorado: a red 1976 convertible with the top down, four seats, a whitewall on every corner and a V8 that sounds like one. It floats on its springs and leans into a turn. It also flies, on rockets hidden under its floor.

What you get

• Real suspension and tyre grip: the car leans, squats and slides, and the gearbox shifts on its own.
• An engine you can hear, cut from recordings of the real thing.
• The driver kitten holds the steering wheel and turns it.
• Kittens can get out on EVA and climb back in through the doors.
• Headlights with dipped and main beam, and tail lights that brighten when you brake.
• An Unflip button for when you end up on your roof.
• Cars bounce instead of breaking up in a hard landing or a crash.
• Move any craft with the mouse: click to pick it up, click again to set it down.

The Eldorado adds:

• Four lift rockets under the floor: half throttle hovers, more climbs.
• Two boost rockets on the tail.
• Downward thrusters that press it onto the ground for grip, which is what makes it drivable on Luna.
• A hover hold: with the lift rockets and the downward thrusters on together it keeps its height.
• A scoop on the nose in three sizes, 3.4 m, 6 m and 10 m, for shoving rocks about, with a slider for how heavy the rocks are.

Driving

Find Beach Buggy or Cadillac Eldorado under Vehicles in the editor, or launch one from the vehicle list, and fill the seats in the launch window.

The Fast & Purrious panel is on screen while you are in a car, with the headlights, the scoop size, the rock weight and Unflip.
